Silk is beautiful, strong, and delicate at the same time. With proper care, it can remain luminous, soft, and useful for a long time.

At Silk Ling Shi, we recommend gentle care, careful handling, and attention to each product’s construction. A silk pillowcase, a silk scrunchie, a structured headband, and a decorative silk piece may not all be cared for in the same way.

General Silk Care

Always Check the Product Details

Silk Ling Shi products may include different silk fabrics, linings, elastic, headband cores, clips, embroidery threads, trims, or decorative details.

Because construction varies by product, care instructions may also vary.

When a product includes structure, elastic, metal, embroidery, or decorative components, it may require spot cleaning or very gentle handling instead of full washing.

Gentle Handling Matters

Silk should be treated with care.

Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, strong stain removers, enzyme detergents, rough scrubbing, wringing, high heat, and prolonged direct sunlight.

Silk can be affected by water temperature, detergent, friction, dye movement, and heat. Gentle care helps protect the fabric’s texture, sheen, color, and shape.

Washing Silk

Hand Washing

For washable silk items, hand washing is often the gentlest method.

Use cool water and a mild detergent suitable for silk or delicate fabrics. Wash gently without rubbing or twisting. Rinse carefully in cool water until the water runs clear.

Do not wring silk. Instead, press out excess water gently with a clean towel.

Machine Washing When Appropriate

Some silk pillowcases or simple washable silk items may be washed on a delicate cycle, depending on the product.

Use a mesh laundry bag, cool water, mild silk-safe detergent, and a gentle cycle. Wash with similar colors and avoid heavy garments, zippers, hooks, towels, or rough fabrics.

Machine washing is not recommended for structured accessories, embellished pieces, or items with clips, cores, heavy decorative details, or delicate trims.

Drying and Ironing Silk

Air Drying

Air dry silk flat or hang it carefully, depending on the product.

Keep silk away from direct sunlight and high heat. Do not tumble dry unless the product care instructions specifically allow it.

High heat can damage silk fibers, change the texture, affect the sheen, or cause shrinkage.

Steaming and Ironing

Silk may be steamed gently or ironed on a low silk setting when appropriate.

Iron from the reverse side when possible, and use a pressing cloth for extra protection. Avoid pressing directly over embroidery, elastic, clips, trims, or decorative details.

Some textured silk fabrics are meant to have natural dimension or surface character. Pressing may change that texture, so use caution.

Caring for Silk Accessories

Headbands, Scrunchies, Bows, and Clips

Silk accessories should be handled gently because they may include elastic, structure, clips, cores, lining, or decorative details.

For many accessories, spot cleaning is preferred. Use a clean damp cloth and mild detergent only where needed. Blot gently and allow the piece to air dry fully before storing.

Avoid Soaking Structured Pieces

Do not soak structured headbands, clips, padded pieces, or heavily embellished accessories unless the product description specifically says the item is washable.

Soaking can affect the shape, structure, adhesive, elastic, metal parts, lining, or decorative details.

Caring for Silk Pillowcases and Home Pieces

Pillowcases and Bedding

Silk pillowcases and simple silk bedding pieces may require different care from accessories.

Wash with mild detergent, cool water, and gentle handling. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, high heat, and rough washing conditions.

To help preserve the surface of silk pillowcases, wash them separately from towels, denim, hooks, zippers, or heavy fabrics.

Silk Home Décor

Silk home décor pieces may be decorative, structured, lined, padded, or embellished.

Depending on construction, spot cleaning or professional cleaning may be recommended. Avoid placing silk home décor in prolonged direct sunlight, as sunlight may fade or weaken the fabric over time.

Storing Silk

Keep Silk Clean, Dry, and Protected

Store silk in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture, perfume, cosmetics, and heavy compression.

Avoid storing silk in plastic for long periods if the fabric needs to breathe. For delicate accessories, store them in a way that protects the shape and prevents crushing.

Silk rewards care. The more thoughtfully it is handled, the more beautifully it can remain part of daily life.
